Atlantic Canada's soils are typically acidic (low in pH). Limestone raises the pH, making acidic soil sweeter for your lawn, crop and plants. Ideal for landscaping and gardening, pelletized limestone has become an increasingly popular product as it provides 30 percent better coverage than powdered limestone, reacts in the soil more quickly, and is easier to spread (less dust and more consistent coverage.)

Compared to traditional pelletized limestone, calcitic lime is fortified with calcium carbonate which helps to counteract soil acidification. The calcium aids in releasing nutrients trapped in the soil, and helps promote the growth of healthy microorganisms. Calcitic lime requires water to start the breakdown process, we recommend watering your lawn after application or applying before a rainfall.
