B. oleracea - The smoother flatter cousin of kale, and used in many of the same ways. Traditionally grown in the American south, collards are equally happy grown in more northern climates like Nova Scotia. Tolerant of hot weather, but also very cold hardy. They keep chugging along in our greenhouse all through the winter months. Although the name implies that it forms heads, I’ve only seen this one grow with open leaves, like kale. Approx. 250 seeds (1 g)
