In celebration of our 160th anniversary, Halifax Seed is pleased to offer a limited edition collection of Heritage Seed Packets inspired by the archives of our catalogue. Each of the 9 varieties in this collection have appeared in historical Halifax Seed catalogues as early as 1906. These tried and true favourites are as reliable as ever, and each variety comes in a vintage-inspired seed packet.

Airy and whimsical with feathery foliage and tall stems that reach 120-150cm (48-60”) tall. The 10cm (4") wide blooms are papery and light in shades of crimson, white and pink. Perfect for the back of beds, scattered throughout the garden, or in cut flower arrangements. This variety won an All-American Selections award in 1936. 0.6g per packet.

Care: Sow seeds in a full sun area after the last frost, or start indoors 3-4 weeks earlier. Keep seeds lightly covered and evenly moist. Plants are heat resistant and prefer welldraining, infertile soil. May require staking.

Harvest: Cut before pollination occurs, when buds have colour but are not yet open.

Sensation Mix first appeared in the Halifax Seed catalogue in 1939, where the description read “Exceptional for cut flowers which can be cut 8 weeks after sowing in open ground. Remarkably large blooms from 4 to 6 inches across without disbudding. Valuable for cutting because of its very early flowering habit. It is best sown out in the open, for if started too early for outdoor growth it becomes hardened. The mixture contains white and shades of rose and pink. The plants are 4 to 6 ft. tall, and should be planted for best results at least 3 ft. apart.”
